Water Oak Block WO-339 2.5" x 2.5" x 12" 2.6 lbs. This is a very nice, lightly-spalted, end-grain spindle block of Texas Water Oak. It is all heartwood with a strong, tightly-flowing grain pattern. There is a beautiful, prominent pattern of grain-crossing, ribbon-like rays on one of the two quarter-sawn faces. Both end-grain faces exhibit some interesting spalting patterns and colors that may show well in the finished piece. There is a very fine check on the top end of the block (photo 3). I see no other cracks, checks, or flaws in this block. |
