This is an end-grain spindle of aged and spalted Texas Bodark. It has the deep golden-orange of aged Bodark heartwood with the darker hues of spalting. Once you work with this block, the freshly exposed surfaces will deepen in color with light and air exposure.

This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. We have several of these, so the photos are representative but may not match the exact piece you receive.
