Pear Block Pr-449 2.4" x 2.5" x 7.7" 1.1 lbs. This is a beautiful end-grain spindle of Bartlett Pear wood. The color is a pinkish-brown with lighter colored mottling and some light spalting. This block has subtle, attractive grain patterns, which includes darker streaks and knots. It is lightly spalted with "white rot" style spalting. There are several lines of black-line spalting visible on the cut surfaces. This wood has been carefully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. There are some drying cracks present that we recommend you fill with CA glue prior to or during turning. Pear wood typically has a fine and even grain pattern, which can result in a smooth and attractive surface when turned. This fine grain allows for intricate details and clean cuts. It is delightful to turn! |
