Black Walnut Block BW445x 4.7" x 4.7" x 7" 3.8 lbs. This is an outstanding end-grain Black Walnut block. It is all heartwood that's been air-dried to maintain the natural coloration. The colors are an overall medium brown with bands of darker-brown grain. Air-dried Black Walnut is so much prettier than kiln-dried, and these pieces have nice color depth. This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. This piece has been planed on four sides (S4S). A few of these have minor cracks (either an end-grain check or small open cracks in a knot) that you can fill with CA glue if needed. We carry multiples of this size block, so the one you receive may not be the one in the photos but it will be of similar character and quality. |
