Black Walnut Bowl Blank BW438 3" x 6" x 6.8" 2.6 lbs. This is a very nice square-cut bowl blank of Black Walnut heartwood with sapwood and bark along one edge. The color is a pleasant medium to dark brown with a very nice, gently-flowing grain pattern over most of the block. One edge has 1"-thick bark and a 1" band of lighter-brown sapwood. This piece has been air-dried to under 10% moisture content. The bark is complete and well-attached. If you wish to turn this and retain the bark, secure it with CA glue prior to turning. This block has a minor imperfection, where a sliver of material was knocked off of one edge; see close-up photo. |
