Texas Ebony Block TE-762
1.5" x 1.5" x 8"
This is a beautiful piece of Texas Ebony that captures the contrast between heartwood and sapwood. The grain on this piece is long and fairly straight, with small swirls around a couple of burl buds. There is a wedge of creamy beige sapwood. The sapwood has a couple of cracks that you may wish to fill with CA glue prior to working with the block. There are a couple of interesting bug boreholes that you could either preserve or choose to turn off. The boreholes tend to be sapwood only.
We have air-dried this Texas Ebony log for 5+ years. Moisture content is 10-12%. Janka hardness is 2820 lbf. Density is 80 lb/ft3. This wood is very dense and hard, one of the hardest available in North America. The finished products are exquisite.
