Peach Block Ph-443
1.1" x 1.1" x 8"
0.3 lbs.

This is a pretty spindle of Texas-grown Peach wood.  It has gorgeous grain and hints of spalting.  The color is a warm and stripey brown that is rather, well, peachy!

This spindle has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content (as measured in September 2022). It has been heat-treated to eliminate any gnawing critters. We've cut multiple of this size block, so the piece you receive may not be exactly the one pictured. Pricing is per spindle, so if you want more than one, use the pull-down to indicate how many you're ordering.

Note:  These spindles are DISCOUNTED because they have some cracks that limit their use.  You can stabilize them with CA glue or epoxy.  Alternately, you can avoid the cracks and turn shorter pieces such as bottle stoppers, pens, ornaments, or spinning tops.

There is a bit of zone spalting and an occasional bug borehole that have decreased the wood density a bit, but the wood has plenty of integrity.  These natural features enhance the beauty of the wood and make each piece unique.  We recommend keeping a sharp edge on your turning tools for this beautiful peach wood. This peach wood does sometimes have a hairline crack that you may want to secure with CA glue prior to turning.

This wood was from a UFO Peach tree grown in Katy, Texas.  It died during the infamous Texas Valentine's Day freeze of 2021.  We cut and sealed it with Anchor Seal shortly after it died, then let it rest and spalt for about a year before processing it.  We have very limited quantities of this unusual-to-Texas wood.
