|Mesquite Block M-999

This is another very nice, rectangular end-grain block of Mesquite. The color is the rich reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood. The grain is strong with a very attractive, combination of linear to gently undulating patterns on the sides. There are three prominent clusters of small burl buds within the swirling grain pattern on one side (bottom photo), two of which can be traced thru the block as visible on the annotated face.
There are two small and shallow cracks on one side of the block (top photo). These appear to be the very terminal ends of pith-related radial cracks. I consider them to be minor. I see no other flaws in this block,
