This is a small and attractive end-grain block of Texas Honey Mesquite. The color is the rich, reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood, but does include a large, undulating patch of light-yellow sapwood along one edge. The grain is strong and linear to gently curving.
I see no cracks, checks or other significant flaws.
