| Mesquite Block M-994 1-1/2"x 1-1/2"x 5" 1/2 lb. This is a beautiful, small end-grain block of very burly Texas Honey Mesquite. It is primarily the rich, reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood, but does include one large patch of light-yellow sapwood (capped by a small wedge of darker-brown bark) at one end and a smaller patch of light-yellow sapwood on the other end (both photos). The grain is strong and linear to complex, curving around numerous burl buds on all four sides. I see no cracks, checks or other significant flaws. |
