This is a nice, smaller block of Texas Honey Mesquite. The color is also the rich, reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood. The grain is strong and linear gently curving overall, but tightly swirling around several patches of burly buds.
I see no cracks, checks or other structural flaws.
