Mesquite Block M-1077 2.9" x 3.9" x 13.8" 4.5 lbs. This is a long end-grain block of Texas-grown Honey Mesquite. It's almost entirely heartwood with deep reddish-brown color. There is a thin sliver of sapwood along one edge. The heartwood has very pretty swirling patterns in the grain. This block has been air dried to 10-12% moisture content. There are a few minor bug holes and small cracks that you may wish to fill with epoxy -- black epoxy gives a beautiful pop of contrast with Mesquite. If you're turning this block, the borer holes and sapwood will turn off as you bring it to round. |
