Mesquite Block M-1033 1.5" x 1.5" x 12.8" 1.3 lbs. This is a beautiful, long end-grain block of Mesquite. The color is the deep reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood. The mesquite is spalted with grain-parallel zone spalting visible on three sides and likely penetrating through the block. The grain is a very attractive and is broadly sweeping. There are several burl buds, and the grain pattern is especially attractive around these. There is a small piece of bark and underlying sapwood present at the bottom end of the block (see close-up for detail). If you decide to cut this off, the block will be about 12" long. I see no cracks, checks, or other blemishes. |
