This is a nice small quarter-sawn board of Texas Purple Heart Eastern Red Cedar. It is entirely deep reddish-purple heartwood with a smoothly linear to gently curving grain pattern.
I see no cracks, checks or other significant flaws. Please ignore the third dimension annotated on the top photo - it is really 7/8" thick, not the 14-5/8" that I mistakenly noted on the board itself.
