Spalted Wood

Spalted wood is unique and beautiful. It occurs naturally during the early stages of fungus-assisted wood decay. We tend to see two types of spalting that we'll describe for you. Zone spalting, which is where broad zones of wood change color, somewhat similar in appearance to mineralization zones. And as line spalting where you will see dark lines that cross the grain fabric. These are the relict battlefronts of fungus wars.
