This is a very nice end-grain block of Texas Ebony. It is approximately 50% dark brown heartwood and 50% golden-yellow sapwood. The grain pattern is gently-curving. There are several attractive knots and burl buds. One edge has a tiny strip of bark. If you are turning the block, this will fall away.
I see no cracks, checks or other significant flaws.
