This is a nice end-grain Red Oak spindle.  The grain is more-or-less parallel to the long axis of the block.  The block is air-dried to 10-12% moisture content.   No cracks or knots.  Minor surface blemishes from sawblade; this will sand right off.  This piece is S4S, surfaced on all 4 sides.
