Mesquite Block M-1101
2.6" x 2.6" x 6"
This is a small end-grain block of Texas-grown Honey Mesquite. The color is the rich, reddish-brown of Mesquite heartwood with an interesting and complex grain pattern. There is a beautiful bit of chatoyance visible on several faces.
This block has been fully air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. This is one we had high-graded to turn ourselves -- hence the notes about making an ornament out of it. We didn't get around to it, so now it can be yours!
The grain is curling overall and has some tight swirls around multiple branch knots. There are several branch and bark inclusions. For turning, you may want to reinforce these complex areas with CA glue prior to turning. There will be something really special to be found within this block, given the grain complexity of its lower half.
