This is a small rift-sawn board of Texas Eastern Red Cedar. It is entirely deep reddish-purple heartwood with a smoothly linear to gently curving grain pattern.  The board is sealed with Anchor Seal and has been air-dried to ~12% moisture content.

This piece is very aromatic -- it smells wonderful!  At the top of the board near the annotation, there are a few small bug holes.  The back face has a small wane edge, as shown in the photos.  There's also some darkened sawblade marking on the back side, opposite the wane edge.  It's only skin deep and will sand off easily.
