Lacebark Elm Block CE-44
2.3" x 2.3" x 13.75"
This is a very nice block of Lacebark Elm with a strong, gracefully flowing grain pattern. It was cut from a crotch, and the pith of one limb is included. This pith is sound with only a few cosmetic cracks (that could be stabilized if necessary). There is a strong sense of chatoyance in the grain of the face. This will be a beautiful piece to work with, and perhaps a bit challenging with the grain complexity.
The block has some warpage from drying, as shown in the photos. It is rough cut, and there is a small bark sliver on one corner (see photo 2). I see no significant flaws.
