Eastern Red Cedar

Eastern Red or aromatic Cedar (Juniperus Virgiania) is prolific in Texas. While many people know Eastern Red Cedar for it's pleasantly aromatic and moth-repelling fragrance, most Texas ranchers know it for its durability as fence posts and for it's invasive character in some areas.

Eastern Red Cedar makes a very nice turning wood, with a fine-grained and beautifully marbled, pinkish- to brownish-red heartwood. It is a fragrant, very light, and very durable wood.
